Ryan Gosling Opens Up About the Passing of His Beloved Dog, George

Whether he was bringing him on movie sets, talk shows or just going for walks around town, Ryan Gosling and his dog George were nothing short of an amazing Hollywood duo.

Sadly, Gosling announced during a visit to “The Ellen Show” in October that his scruffy and sweet sidekick had passed away at the age of 17 late last year.

The “Blade Runner 2049” star, who wore a shirt honoring George during his recent stint as “SNL” host, told Ellen DeGeneres that his wonderful canine “was a good friend to me.”

Gosling spoke lovingly about George, who he joked “thought being a dog was beneath him” and recalled how his one-of-a-kind pup “would not do tricks.”

“If you wanted him to sit down you had to convince him it was in his best interest,” Gosling said.

He also shared a hilarious story about how George (whose tag he now wears around his chest) once helped himself to someone else’s seat at an outdoor restaurant.

The actor said George “started to look like an aging rock star… but still sexy” in his later years.

While Gosling seemed unsure about getting another pet, one thing is for sure: he simply adored the devoted companion he had by his side for 17 years.
