Dog Makes Tiny New Lizard Friend at the Park

Daisy the Border Collie/Golden Retriever mix just has one of those faces, you know? The kind of gentle pupper you wanna give a million hugs and kisses.

Of course, Daisy’s sunny disposition doesn’t just resonate with humans. Case in point: During a recent excursion to Empire Mine State Historic Park in Grass Valley, California, with her person Jacqueline Goehner, Daisy made a new friend who couldn’t get enough of her. That friend being a very tiny, and very adventurous, lizard.

While exploring the vast and beautiful park with Daisy, Goehner’s boyfriend Michael had noticed a small lizard climbing up one of the pup’s front legs.

“The little guy crawled up her leg, ran up past her shoulder, and right onto her head,” Goehner tells PawCulture. “He looked like he wanted Daisy to take him somewhere!”

Thankfully, Goehner thought quickly and pulled out her camera phone to snap as many pictures as possible of the unlikely, albeit adorable, partnership.

Daisy was a very welcoming host to her new friend, Goehner says, so much so that the lizard felt safe enough to travel all the way down to the dog’s nose for the obligatory boop. “The baby lizard really worked the camera,” Goehner jokes.

The lizard liked Daisy (and their photo sesh in the park) so much that after Goehner safely removed it and returned it to the wild, it came back for more.

“When we started to walk away, the little guy kept following Daisy,” she recalls.

To ensure the lizard’s safety (the very affectionate Daisy may have given her new friend too playful a kiss), Goehner and co. put the lizard on a nearby tree and said their farewells.

While Daisy and the lizard may never cross paths again, we always have these amazingly sweet and hilarious photos of their meet-cute in the park.
