Popping a casserole in the oven is a tried-and-true time saver for families. The ease of preparation makes cooking a breeze, and the big portion guarantees plenty of leftovers. And with a few simple ingredients, you can make a special baked casserole for your four-legged family members, too.

This hearty hamburger casserole calls for just a handful of ingredients, and it's super easy to prepare. Simply brown the beef, then layer all the ingredients into your dish. Bake, and serve!

Remember, pet parents looking to incorporate new foods in their dog’s diet should consult with their veterinarian beforehand.

How to Serve to Dogs

Calories from treats should make up no more than 10 percent of your pet's total calorie intake. In other words, if your dog only needs 400 calories a day, no more than 40 calories should come from treats or anything else they consume aside from meals. Feeding more than that can lead to nutrient deficiencies, especially for dogs undergoing active weight loss. If your pet has health issues (including food allergies or sensitivities to fats) or if you have any concerns, consult your pet’s veterinarian before offering this food item.

Once you've determined a safe amount to give your pet, slice up and serve the casserole in your dog's favorite food dish.

We created this delicious dog-friendly casserole recipe with the help of certified pet nutritionist, Dr. Sean Delaney. While deemed safe for pups, it’s important to speak with your veterinarian before feeding new food to your dogs.
