Everyone likes a cup of hot chocolate on a frigid winter’s day. However, chocolate contains theobromine, making it extremely toxic to dogs. Carob, on the other hand, is a cocoa alternative that is safe for pups to enjoy.
We’ve teamed up with Kevyn Matthews, The Dog Chef, to bring you this exclusive recipe for a dog-friendly hot chocolate. It’s so sweet and delicious, humans can enjoy it as well.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons carob powder
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
Combine milk and carob powder in a small saucepan over medium heat, whisking to remove any lumps.
Then, stir in honey and vanilla extract. Continue heating to desired temperature.
Humans: Sip while hot.
Dogs: Let cool before you knock the bowl over and slurp it up.
