With Valentine’s Day on the docket, February is the perfect time for pet parents to celebrate their love for their furry and four-legged partners in crime. Make the most out of the month of love by tailoring how you spend it according to your monthly horoscope.
With the first Mercury retrograde of 2020 beginning this month, staying focused might feel like a chore, and you may feel more emotional than usual. Avoid being too hard on yourself or having expectations (of yourself, others and your pets!) set too high. For example, don’t let a slight training set-back, like your dog begging for table treats, make you feel defeated. You’ll work through it, and chances are, you—and your pet—are doing just fine.
The good news is, your February horoscope also predicts plenty of creative energy that’ll leave you wanting to spend as much time as possible doing things that express your intuitive side, allowing you to relax and embrace an internal peacefulness—so bring on all the furry snuggles!

Aries (March 21-April 19)
Venus moves into your sign on February 7, giving you a boost of confidence to kick off this month. You'll be networking with new faces and hitting a serious stride. Mid-month, though, you may feel a little less energetic and more prone to reminiscing about the past, but stay sharp by getting extra sleep, and keep looking forward instead—there's lots to do! The end of the month will have you back on top of the world with a big win at work. With creative energy flowing, we encourage you to find fun ways to enjoy time with your pets and take them to new places, as they'll likely be as restless as you are. For your adventures, pick up a new leash, travel crate or even the Outward Hound PoochPouch Dog Backpack that’ll help you and your pet get out and go.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
February 9’s Full Moon will see you enlisting help or setting some hard boundaries with family or loved ones. It may seem difficult, but once you state your case, others will understand and respect your space and decisions.
Meanwhile, February will also hold an opportunity to make some big decisions career-wise. You don't necessarily have to make a move yet, but don't lose sight of where you can go. It’s a good time to reach out to professional contacts and allow change to happen—but don't force things. Big changes are coming both at home and at work. Your priorities will be shifting quickly, and you'll crave the comfort of your pets as you emotionally prepare for your next adventure. Let your furry, feathered or finned companion show you how to be adaptable and calm; pets always have a way to make everything OK. It's time to stop thinking about what you could be doing, face the fear and take confident action.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
With so much going on at work, you'll need a scorecard to keep up. Avoid taking sides until you get the whole picture: With Mercury Retrograde in your career house, the potential for picking the wrong side at work is pretty high. Fortunately, the Full Moon in Leo will give you a mental do-over as you come up with a bold new plan to get you to the next step, like furthering your education or acquiring an additional certification. Just be sure you are mindful of how your bold new plans may affect your pet parenting, and plan accordingly for travel or day care.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Your usually strong intuition is now at its very best. The beginning of the month has you counseling and coaching a close friend in need, which is typical for you. Your insights are powerful, and even if they haven’t been heeded in the past, your friend will pay attention this time around. You'll feel the urge to splurge as your bank balance reaches a comfortable level, and that's saying a lot for Cancers who rarely feel secure financially. Your furkids may be a bit destructive and a bit frustrated from being left alone while you're so busy, so make sure your new acquisitions are safely kept out of their reach. Gift them a new toy or two to keep curious pets from getting into something they shouldn’t. For a whole bundle of budget-friendly goodies, we love the Goody Box Pup-fest Treats and Toys.
Leo (July 23-August 22)
According to your monthly horoscope, February is yours, Leo! With a plethora of new acquaintances and reconnections on the horizon, your February will be anything but boring. You'll sweep your partner off their feet with a Valentine's Day gift or fun date, and even your animal friends will benefit from your generosity as you spoil them with the best care. Keep an eye on the bank account, though! Give affordable-yet-adorable Valentine’s Day gifts, like the ZippyPaws Burrow Hide & Seek Heart Cookie Jar Dog Toy. By the month's end, you'll be feeling more in charge of your career path and confident about your earning ability. On February 23's New Moon, take a good look at what has been holding you back or causing stress-related ailments, and take direct action to help optimize your health. Physical activity, like longer walks with your dog, can do so much to help you stay on track!
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Whether you've got a Valentine or not, it doesn't matter! For you, February is about spending as much time with those who mean the most to you and letting them know how they've impacted your life. This means your beloved pet, too! You'll be on the receiving end of some quality compliments as well, so let them sink in while you shine. You're feeling super creative now and if you craft or have artistic talents, think about sharing your art as gifts or displaying it in your home. You can even get crafty with your companions by creating a piece of pawprint art with the Pearhead Pawprints Dog & Cat Wall Frame and Impression Kit.
Mid-month, you may feel a slowdown of energy as you try to balance your work and personal life, but that's OK—just take some time to recharge and rebalance. Around the 18th, loved ones may seem a bit confusing and hard to read. Just go with the flow and be willing to hear them out before passing judgment.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
It may seem like things are taking forever to come together at work, which might have you considering a new position or leaving your current company. Just hold off making any commitments until after Mercury comes out of retrograde next month. There may be more to the story than you know, or your current side hustle may not be able to sustain you full-time quite yet. See what you can do to better the situation before bailing.
The Full Moon has you ready to burn the candle at both ends as exciting events keep you running! If your furry ones are home alone, make sure to check in between social engagements. If your pet suffers from separation anxiety, a calming jacket, like the ThunderShirt Anxiety & Calming Aid of Dogs, or Zesty Paws Stress & Anxiety Calming Bites may help. Unfortunately, toward the end of the month, you may feel as though loved ones are questioning your every move. Take the last few days of the month (we get an extra one since it’s a Leap Year!) for some quiet time with your Valentine—human or pets!
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
As Mercury shifts from Aquarius to Pisces, you'll feel relief over not having to find the solutions to projects that were causing you stress. As it moves into retrograde, you'll find that writing, journaling or just getting your deepest thoughts out in the open will lead you to uncover a hidden talent. Friends will be available to help you bring your ideas to reality, but you'll definitely have to ask. Scorpios are known for doing everything themselves, so people won't necessarily volunteer to help.
Pets may seem to have their own agenda going on these days, as you journey through this month together. Your pup may pick up a naughty gnawing habit, so be sure to get them lots of chew toys, like USA Bones & Chews Cotton Rope with Bones Dog Toy, to keep them occupied. If you have a new puppy, this is a good time to show them the rules of the house with some obedience training. Otherwise, they may take over very quickly.
Mid-month would be a good time to get out of town for a day or two if you can with some like-minded people. Toward the end of the month, though, it may seem like there isn’t enough of you to go around, as your work and social life both amp up, considerably. You'll have to say no to a few commitments or activities, even if you don't want to. Remember: It's not the end of the world.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Pondering your next move is a constant with you, Sag. As long as you're breathing you'll be thinking of where you'd like to travel or move to, or of a new job or project that piques your interest. This month is no exception as you struggle to feel grounded. You may feel a bit scattered as you try to determine whether or not to stay right where you are, so take time to consider what options are truly realistic for your emotional well-being as well as your budget. You'll probably opt to stay put for now.
As we settle into the final stretch of winter, making sure your pets are warm and comfortable will help you feel more connected to your home and family. Older pets may need some special items like a memory foam pet bed or pet steps, like the Frisco Foldable Nonslip Pet Steps, to help them up and down off the bed. Or you can gift your kitty an insulated bed, like Best Friends by Sheri’s Luxury Shag Donut Self-Heating Orthopedic Dog & Cat Bed, that’ll keep them cozy on cold nights. Create a solid home base, invite close friends to share your space, and look at your next move early in March.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
This month feels more like the climb of a roller coaster as it builds and builds and builds. But that’s just the way you like it, Cap: Slow, steady and upward. The Leo Full Moon on February 9 will shine in your house of regeneration and change, and expect your goals to be green lit. Your talents are in demand now, and if the offers don't reflect what you know you're worth, you'll pass. But remember that humility goes a long way. Although you know you're in charge, being assertive without an attitude is important. Still, reward yourself for all the hard work that's paying off now, and note that pets may be more communicative now. They’ll also be more open to learning new things, so even if you have an “old dog,” rest assured that they can be taught new tricks! Spend some time training or teaching your pup a new skill this month with the help of a training aid, like the Starmark Pro-Training Clicker Dog Training Aid.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Happy Birthday, Aquarius! The first half of the month finds the Sun in your sign, and Mercury in your financial house will give you the perfect opportunity to splurge a little on something for your home that you've been saving up for. Fixing up your digs is priority—a home that's unsettled impacts your life more than you realize. Your hard work budgeting pays off now, and you'll find the funds to purchase a special Valentine’s Day gift for a loved one, two- or four-legged. Romantically attached Aquarians will find their relationship deepening, as you’ll become more willing to be vulnerable. Your pets will be a great source of comfort and rejuvenation as you need time to rest mid-month. There's nothing more relaxing than snuggling with a purring kitty or even a snoring puppy! The latter half of the month picks up speed again as you clear the last of the clutter, free up your space and take time to enjoy outings with your tribe. Utilize space with a litter box that doubles as décor, like the Good Pet Stuff Hidden Cat Little Planter.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
Happy Birthday, Pisces! Your February horoscope shows Venus and Mercury in your sign at the beginning of the month, helping you feel more like yourself than you have in a while. Even when Mercury retrogrades, you'll enjoy the wave of self-discovery, and will be given an opportunity that’ll let your talents and skills truly shine. Pay close attention to your dreams and journal them. Putting them on paper makes all the difference. You may also be considering getting a new pet, and the hunt for just the right one will bring you so much joy. (You'll intuitively know which one is yours!) Not adding to the fur family? You'll feel like you can read the minds of your current pets as you tune into their most sensitive needs and help them thrive.
Mid-month, something new piques your interest and you become almost obsessed with learning everything you can about it. Whether it's job or hobby related, you'll find you take to this new concept like a duck to water. Allow others to celebrate your birthday and make it a big deal. Do your best to just say thank you, instead of saying things like, “Oh, you don't have to make a fuss!” or “You shouldn't have.” Accept and bask in the love and support. And don’t forget to let your pet in on the birthday celebrations! Pick up the Frisco Plush Birthday Cake Slice with Squeaker Dog Toy for an on-theme treat. You can pull it out on all special occasions hereafter, like on your pet’s own birthday or adoption anniversary.
