Chewy Customers Share Insights About Their Pets for ‘Get to Know Your Customers Day’
At Chewy, we love learning about our customers’ pets. After all, we’re pet people, and there’s nothing we love more than hearing a good pet story.
In recognition of Get to Know Your Customers Day, January 17, we set out to learn even more about the wonderful pets and people we serve. We asked our 200,000+ Instagram followers several questions about their fur family and, boy, did we learn a lot!
1. What Is Your 2019 Pet Resolution?
When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, pet parents are packing their bags. Most pet parents polled said they are looking to get away in 2019—with their four-legged friends in tow, of course.
Are you taking a trip with your pet this year? Be sure to bring along the basics, like a pet carrier, collapsible pet food and water bowls and calming aids. Get more tips for traveling with your pet here.
2. What’s Your Pet’s Nickname?
Your pet’s “official” name is what’s on his tag, but what you actually call him is a whole other story. The top nickname among pet parents polled was: Beans. And it seems like food in general provided lots of inspiration for pet nicknames.
Other popular pet nicknames included:
- Bean (singular)
- Ham ham
- Baby muffins
- Mashed potato
Aaaand now we’re hungry. Discover more fun food names for pets here.
3. What Does Your Pet Do That Melts Your Heart?
It may come as no surprise that the most popular answer to this question was everything! It’s the reason why your phone’s photo library is filled with thousands of photos of your pet: your pet sleeping, your pet walking, your pet staring off into space. It’s all the. Most. Adorable. Thing. Ever.
Here are some actual customer responses:
- Nothing (everything)
- Every. Single. Thing. Ever.
- Loves me
- Literally anything
- Just living.
Does this sound like you, too?
4. What Has Your Pet Taught You?
Pets teach us a lot—like how to live in the moment—but the most popular response from pet parents polled was patience.
From potty training to getting your pet to come when called, it’s pays to have patience. Dog chewed up your favorite belt? Patience. Cat keeps scratching the same corner of your couch (the corner that faces the entrance of the living room so you see it right when you walk in)? Patience.
You know what else takes a lot of patience? Love. And isn’t that what our pets are really teaching us?
5. What’s Your Pet’s Pre-Bedtime Ritual?
Bedtime means cuddle time! Most pet parents polled said their pet’s bedtime ritual consists of sweet snuggles and spooning, whether with their humans or their toys.
“Daisy has to have 8 kisses every night or she gets upset,” said one obliging pet parent.
“Cuddle with Mom and Dad on the couch and then have Dad tuck her in,” said another.
Other top responses: begging for treats or getting a treat right before bed.
Take it from our pets: Cuddles and treats are the best way to end the day!
