The Patterdale Terrier is a generally healthy breed.  But because they always seem to be chasing something, Patterdale Terriers tend to get debris in their eyes, which can lead to conjunctivitis.

Patterdale Terrier History and Background

The Patterdale Terrier is a descendant of the Fell Terrier, which originated in Northern England hundreds of years ago and was bred to control vermin, according to the United Kennel Club. The tough little terriers were bred to chase vermin out of their dens or stand and fight. The UKC recognized the Patterdale Terrier in 1995.
